Rusty Coones Dominator
Built by Jesse James. Given to a Hells Angel.
The builder
Jesse James started West Coast Choppers in a Long Beach garage in 1992 and made his name on bikes he cut, welded and finished himself. At its peak the Long Beach shop turned out only 12 to 15 complete motorcycles a year, at around $150,000 each, for a customer list that ran from Shaquille O’Neal and Kid Rock to Keanu Reeves. The Dominator is Jesse’s hardtail frame. This one was built in the Long Beach shop, which closed in October 2010, and gifted to Rusty Coones.
The rider
Rusty Coones is a long-time Hells Angel who has served as president of the club’s Orange County and San Fernando Valley charters. He owns Illusion Motorsports in Orange County, where Kurt Sutter and Charlie Hunnam found him, and from 2012 to 2014 he played Rane Quinn on Sons of Anarchy. Until the bike left his hands, the tank carried the club’s Death Head.
